The Survey Editor allows you to configure the display settings for most basic and interactive elements.
Accessing the Style Editor
To edit the display settings for a survey element, click the "..." button at the top right of the question in the staging area and select "Update Styling".
An example of the style editor is shown below. Scroll down to view a table with the default display settings for all basic question types, including examples for each.
Note: The options available for survey questions may vary due to survey layout or question setup. Highly customized questions, like those created using the Button Select and Card Sort elements, require that additional style settings be applied.
Display Options
The following display options are available for most survey questions by default.

Column Legends | (Requires columns) Allows you to choose where the column legend headers appear. By default, they appear only at the top of the answer options, but may also appear only at the bottom, or top and bottom both. Click here for more information. |

Custom Column Legends | (Requires columns) Allows you to customize the placement of column legends. The legend will appear at the top and you may specify the row above which you want an additional legend to appear. Enter the row number (e.g., 7) in the field. Column Width | (Requires columns) Allows you to define custom column width in pixels. Click here for more information. | ![]() |
Row Legends | (Requires rows) Allows you to change the position of the answer option text in relation to the response form (e.g., radio button). By default, the text appears on the left, but may also appear to the right or both right and left. Click here for more information. |

Merge Below | Allows merging two or more types of elements into one question, one below the another. The question above must have the same number of columns. Click here for more information. | ![]() |
